About ISIP
ISIP was established in 2004 to create a forum to enhance knowledge and expertise of its members and to allow members to share experiences between those accountants and lawyers in Ireland who specialise in turn-around and insolvency and among practitioners working in the insolvency profession in Ireland.
Between them, members have extensive experience of dealing with matters of:
- personal bankruptcy and insolvency,
- arranging debtor applications under the Bankruptcy Acts,
- corporate insolvency generally,
- informal schemes of arrangement,
- Section 201, Companies Act 1963 debt reorganisations,
- Section 279, Companies Act 1963 debt reorganisations,
- receiverships,
- members’ voluntary winding up of companies,
- creditors’ winding up companies,
- court petitions for winding up of companies,
- court petitions for protection and examinership,
- debt re-negotiation and re-scheduling,
The stated objects are set out in the Constitution as follows:
A Copy of the Constitution can be accessed here.
- To provide a forum for consideration and discussion of the practice and law of insolvency.
- To promote the study and learning of insolvency law and practice, including the holding of seminars.
- The establishment of sources and recommended forms of documents in common usage.
- To liaise with and make recommendations to government and regulatory authorities, in connection with reform and other developments of the law governing insolvency and related practice, and to provide a conduit to bring the concerns of members to the attention of relevant committees of Designated Bodies (as defined).
- To promote best practice in the performance and discharge of the functions of Insolvency Practitioners and to promote the character and standing of Insolvency Practitioners in the business and general community.
- To liaise with similar groups and organisations and those having similar aims.
From a relatively small group in 2004, the numbers have now grown to several hundreds..
